An association born of a chance encounter
Wild Sun Rescue is a small association, young and determined, working where almost no one was: in Essaouira, on Morocco's Atlantic coast.
Our story
It all began with one dog
Éloïse had travelled to Essaouira for a riding holiday at Marta's place. Little did she know that this trip was about to change everything.
There, she met a little dog who had only just been rescued and didn't even have a name yet. She was extraordinarily gentle. It was love at first sight — and Éloïse gave her the name she inspired: Sun.
She is the one who sparked the desire for something bigger. Marta, for her part, was already working flat out on her own to save every dog she could. Helping her felt like the obvious thing to do.
Essaouira, because that's where Marta is, and because most associations are in Marrakech: here, there's little help — if any at all.
Wild Sun Rescue was born of that encounter, on 24 July 2026. Its name carries Sun's own, and its sun is the promise we make to every dog we take in: where every sun rises again.

The team
Three women, one shared conviction
We are a small, all-volunteer team split between France and Morocco. That's what lets us act fast and follow each dog one by one.

What we actually do
Rescue
We take in dogs that are strays, injured or in danger, on the streets of Essaouira and the surrounding area. Every report is checked, and then the dog is brought to safety.
Veterinary care
Microchipping, vaccination, internal and external deworming, blood tests, and whatever care each dog's condition calls for. Some dogs arrive in very poor health and need months of patience.
Spaying and neutering
It is the only lasting way to reduce the number of dogs on the streets. We spay and neuter every dog in our care, and run campaigns whenever we have the means to.
Feeding on the streets
Many dogs can't be taken in because there simply isn't room. We keep feeding them and looking out for them right where they live.
Adoption in France and Europe
Our dogs go to families in France and across Europe, with a passport, up-to-date vaccinations and all the required paperwork. We do not arrange adoptions within Morocco.
Foster homes
They give a dog a home until it finds its forever family. We are looking for fosters in Normandy and in the Rhône-Alpes region.
The sanctuary
Some dogs, because of their age, their health or their past, will never be put up for adoption. They'll stay with us, cared for and surrounded by love, for as long as it takes.
Raising awareness
Talking, explaining, showing. Making the reality of Morocco's stray dogs known — and why spaying and neutering matters so much — is part of our mission.
